5 Myths About Muscle Soreness
I asked the kiddos if they were sore after school today, I got, "I guess." "What's Sore?" and a no answer. What is it about kids? They can move through the pain like it isn't even there? I want a piece of that, I guess if you want it bad enough you will do it. For instance Bella wants to jump rope so she moves through the soreness and after a little while she forgot about it and is enjoying her activity. When did we forget to have fun? Activity is fun! I guess its the getting started that keeps us on the couch. I'm making a pact with God and my kids to get off the couch for our health! Don't SING it just BRING it!!!
Exercise:
They still got their one hour of exercise in, not as a family today. Bella did Kids Cardio at the Hempfield Area Recreation Center, really neat program. David had Lacrosse practice. Broken toe Ava, played outside with her bestie. My exercise, well, traditional working out...not so much, but I had lots of movement and my Iwatch says I met my cardio goal of 34 out of 30 minutes, not too shabby.
Family:
Today we did watch an educational video on portion control. Some of the things I already had in place, but I have to say it was an eye opener for the kids. The speaker included visuals for the kids to compare their food portions to. They could NOT believe how much pasta was a TRUE serving size. Rude awakening! I was just sad that was all I could have!
Our Family Video Time
This is the video I mention above that we watched as a family.
Portion Sizes for Children
Food:
Today we had a little food faux-no. The kids were diving into the protein power balls like they were grapes. Those bad boys can add up calorie wise so I had to put my foot down and say No More! We did score on dinner tonight, I made a Daniel Plan meal...Mongolian Beef:
I was called out on the carpet at dinner tonight!! The pasta portion size was larger than a computer mouse, well then! I explained it was brown rice noodles so I guess the portions are larger, I gave 'em what the package said, callin' me out...uh-huh!
