All of these things were e-senn-tial to my run, I know, crazy, right! If I did not have these things the run was miserable and a complete fail!
The pouch around my waist holds my IPhone that wirelessly connects my running playlist to my...
IWatch where I control the music and that wirelessly connects to the...
Wireless headphones with the perfect fitting earbuds (very important)!
The wrist water bottle has my water and a small pouch for a car key and some money.
The headband (oh my, it took years to find) is the only one that stays put on my head.
And finally the perfect fitting capri running pants, do I even need to explain?
Follow all that? Yeah I'm done with all that mess, here is why..
During my run, I realized all of these years to perfect the entertainment value of my runs was diminishing the running experience. I was missing out on taking in the beauty around me that God created, the sanctity of being alone with my own thoughts, the pounding of my feet on the pavement, the rhythm of my breathing. The lost hour of spirituality, for what, music that is just repetitive and probably super damaging to my ears? Plus, runners are you with me?, Is there not something empowering about lacing up your shoes and it being just you and the open road? Rant over.
The Run:
[Insert hilarious laughter] My husband and I went on a 3-mile run. It was a flat paved surface that was absolutely brutal. I cursed myself for being mean to my body for 6 months. The neglect was very noticeable and I hated myself for it about a mile in. Now I do not want to mislead you, we have never been Super Duper Buff, but for me I am out of shape. Well, I had a wake-up call. I included a video of our experience.
This is about as real as it gets because this video is not flattering AT ALL!
The Kiddos:
They were NOT into going anywhere today, I was sort of into staying home as well. I knew I had to stick with the plan so... what to do?, what to do?....I decided for the girls to break out Gonoodle.com. If you have not heard of this website oh goodness gracious it is the fun you are missing out on!!!
You DO NOT want to miss GO NOODLE Click this link!
For David, he played basketball outside with his buddy down the street!!
I included a video of the girls enjoying some GO Noodle!
Star Search, You cant HANDLE this!
Dinner:
Chicken Soft Tacos, this is a regular meal in our house. I am going to let you in on the changes we made tonight.
- We used smaller plates
- We did not offer cheese
- We used one healthy fat (olive oil instead of avocados, black olives, etc)
- We did not offer sour cream, salsa only
- We cooked chicken in a sofrito base
- We made roasted potatoes not fried
- We only served two small corn tortillas on each plate and put the bag away
- Salad was half of the plate
- Watermelon was for dessert
I think we cut calories and fat significantly with the changes we made for my family. You know what they did not even miss a thing!
It is a start!!
Date Night is tomorrow, eating out is a HUGE weakness for us so definitely tune in to see how we handle this hurdle.
Fit N' Fun Mama OUT!
