Option 1: Eat the spinach salad and have frozen yogurt with bananas and strawberries
Option 2: Just try one bite of the spinach salad and have fresh fruit and no frozen yogurt
Oh my goodness gracious I got about 15 minutes of screaming, negotiating, promises, it's not fair because..., you break promises, why can't you be a normal mommy?, who does this vegetable stuff?, and lots more.
I stood my ground, firm, not to be broken...until I was. I caved. I am a vegetable caver. I do feel this particular cave was more of a...compromise. Ava said if I switched out the salad spinach (it had a dressing on it) with plain spinach she would eat it. I am a firm believer or working smarter not harder and the other one....yeah... picking your battles. She got frozen yogurt.
We quickly made up, we don't dwell in our house and before long we were snuggling on the couch...eating, you guessed it, fro-yo!
This story brings me to my realization for the day, I had a few setbacks; the weather limiting exercise options, a temper tantrum struggle, and a deflation of motivation. However, this is how my night ended:
Watching Master Junior Chef with absolutely no other place I would rather be, it put things into perspective in regards to what I thought was a rough day. It made me realize that looking for perfection everyday was a setup for failure, the happiness resides in the little wins. For example, when Ava picked out the smaller bowls at the grocery store. When Bella prays to God and thanks him for our new healthy lifestyle. When my children WANT to exercise. These wins are what keeps me going!
